At The Philadelphia Orchestra, ARI SOLOTOFF has been promoted from chief of staff and director of planning to the newly created post of executive vice president, and JANICE HAY from senior director of marketing to vice president for marketing. MARILYN LUCAS has been appointed vice president for development. Solotoff will be responsible for operational oversight of the orchestra, human resources, Shared Services (Information Technology and Ticket Philadelphia), communications and public relations, and the ongoing strategic planning process. Before joining the orchestra’s staff in May 2010 he had served as executive director of the Portland (Me.) Symphony Orchestra and the Pensacola (Fla.) Symphony Orchestra. Solotoff is a 2003 graduate of the League of American Orchestras’ Orchestra Management Fellowship Program. Marilyn Lucas, who joined the staff on May 1, comes to the orchestra from Gallaudet University, where she was executive director of development. She had earlier enjoyed a lengthy fundraising career in Philadelphia, most notably as executive director of development and alumni relations for the University of Pennsylvania and for its Penn Medicine Health System and School of Medicine.
