The San Francisco Symphony has announced the appointment of D. LANCE KING as director of development, effective in early August. He served most recently as executive vice president and managing director of the Chicago-based philanthropic management consulting firm Grenzebach Glier and Associates, where his clients included the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association. Prior to joining CG+A in 2009 King was vice president for university advancement at Stony Brook (N.Y.) University and president of the Stony Brook Foundation; he had earlier worked at the University of Texas-Austin as executive director of corporate and foundation relations and as development director for the College of Pharmacy, his alma mater. A native of Huntsville, Texas, King completed a postgraduate executive residency in nonprofit management in Bethesda, Md.
