The American Federation of Musicians of the United States and Canada has announced the appointment of JAY BLUMENTHAL as director of symphonic services and assistant treasurer. A professional musician for the past 40 years, Blumenthal has served on the Orchestra Committee of the New York City Ballet Orchestra and as chair of the Orchestra Committee of The New York Pops. He has been a member of the AFM Local 802 Executive Board since 1998, and for the past eight years has held posts as financial vice president of that board and supervisor of Local 802’s Concert Department. Blumenthal has also served on the Governing Board of the International Conference of Symphony and Opera Musicians. He holds a Ph.D. in music education from New York University.
