The Marlboro Music School and Festival in Vermont held its first-ever reunion on July 9 and 10, when it celebrated its 60th season by bringing together 150 former participants, staff, and families. Among the returning musicians were violinist Joshua Bell; the Beaux Arts and Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson trios; and the Escher, Galimir, Guarneri, Juilliard, Miami, Orion, St. Lawrence, and Shanghai string quartets. First-chair and key orchestra players in attendance included members of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, Minnesota Orchestra, New York Philharmonic, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, and San Francisco Symphony. Marlboro Music’s 2011 season from July 16 to August 14 takes place in Persons Auditorium on the campus of Vermont’s Marlboro College, under the artistic direction of Richard Goode and Mitsuko Uchida.
