RICHARD ROSENBERG has been named artistic director of the Union Symphony in Monroe, N.C. He has held music directorships at the Corpus Christi (Tex.) and Waterloo/Cedar Falls (Ia.) symphony orchestras, the Chamber Orchestra of California, the Hot Springs (Ark.) Music Festival, the Pennsylvania Ballet, and the National Music Festival (Floyd, Va.) Rosenberg has also served on the conducting staffs of the Baltimore and Oakland symphony orchestras, the London Classical Players, and the Aspen Music Festival and School, and was acting director of orchestras at the University of Michigan. As a conductor he has recorded music by Mozart, Gershwin, Louis Moreau Gottschalk, Jerome Moross, and numerous other composers for the Naxos and Marco Polo labels. Rosenberg has also produced orchestrations and corrected editions of Bach’s St. Matthew Passion, Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, and the complete orchestral music of Gottschalk.
