The El Paso Symphony Youth Orchestras in Texas has announced a new conductor apprentice program, open to current EPSYOs members between 16 and 20 years of age as of September 1, 2011. The free program, directed by Andres Moran— music director of EPSYOs and assistant conductor of the El Paso Symphony Orchestra—will provide apprentices with regular coachings and lessons, with topics to include baton technique, score analysis, ear training, music theory, and rehearsal management. Apprentices will have the opportunity to shadow Moran during rehearsals for El Paso Symphony Orchestra subscription concerts, and the program will culminate in an opportunity to conduct one of the EPSYOs ensembles in performance. The due date for applications is August 15; for more information visit the EPSYOs website.
