In Wednesday’s (8/10) Daily Herald (Utah Valley, Utah), Rena Lesué-Smithey writes, “Three members of the Nebo Youth Philharmonic Orchestra, Tina Trevino of Salem Hills High and Payson High students Christopher Mullen and Isaac Webber, joined more than 50 students from across the state to team up with the Utah Symphony to play in Abravanel Hall in Salt Lake City. Formed three years ago, Nebo Youth Philharmonic is an audition-based program for orchestra and band students of Nebo School District. Once selected, these students spend months rehearsing and preparing for performances throughout the district. A lucky few are invited to perform with the Utah Symphony. … Trevino, who plays the string bass, Mullen, who plays the tuba, and Webber, who plays the cello, were recommended along with others from the Nebo Youth Philharmonic Orchestra by its two directors, Julie Christofferson, a district fine arts specialist, and Paul Wells, the orchestra director at Salem Hills High and Spanish Fork Junior High. … ‘They had three or four sectional rehearsals and once with the whole symphony. It was a really amazing experience for the kids. We have a really neat partnership with Utah Symphony,’ ” Christofferson said.
