The Albany Symphony Orchestra in New York is now accepting score submissions for its third composer competition for young and emerging composers. The deadline for submission is November 11. Three finalists will be selected to work with the orchestra in February and May 2012, and with Aaron J. Kernis, who is serving with the ASO as mentor-composer during the 2011-12 season, and with Missy Mazzoli, who is serving as the ASO’s composer-educator during a year-long music-composition project with the Enlarged City School District of Troy. The ASO competition is part of its three-year “Composer to Center Stage” initiative, funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
