The Richmond (Va.) Symphony has appointed  DIANA COHEN concertmaster. She will make her public debut with the orchestra at the opening concert of its 2011-12 Altria Masterworks series on September 17. Cohen has served as concertmaster of the Charleston (S.C.) and Kalamazoo (Mich.) symphonies, as well as the National Repertory Orchestra in Breckenridge, Colo., and the orchestra of the Cleveland Institute of Music, where she was an honors graduate and winner of both the Darius Milhaud Competition and the Jerome Gross Prize.  She has appeared widely as a soloist and chamber musician, and served as guest concertmaster of the Rochester (N.Y.) Philharmonic Orchestra and the Phoenix Symphony.
