In Monday’s (8/29) Dallas Morning News, Robert Miller reports, “Texas Instruments Inc., a longtime major supporter of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, has given $300,000 through its TI Foundation to support the symphony’s general operating costs. The money will be used to pay for items as diverse as educational programs, guest artist fees and staff. The total is three times the size of last year’s gift to the symphony. The TI Foundation is giving more than $1 million to 13 different arts and culture organizations in North Texas, and this is the largest of those grants. … TI’s longtime partnership with the symphony also includes 11 consecutive years of sponsoring the Texas Instruments Classical Series. TI co-founder Eugene McDermott, for whom the McDermott Concert Hall in the Meyerson Symphony Center is named, was an ardent supporter of the Dallas Symphony and set the stage for ongoing TI support, including continuous leadership on the symphony’s board of governors.” A subscription is required to view the full article.
