Alabama’s Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra has announced the appointment of ADAM FLATT as music director. He is also music director of the Newport (Ore.) Symphony Orchestra, the Denver Philharmonic Orchestra, and Denver’s Colorado Ballet, as well as principal conductor of Emerald City Opera, a summer festival in Steamboat Springs, Colo. Flatt served for five years (2001-05) as associate conductor of the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, and for seven years (2001-07) as music director of the Denver Young Artists Orchestra. As a guest conductor he has appeared with numerous U.S. orchestras, opera companies, and festivals. Flatt received his bachelor’s degree in music from the University of California at Berkeley, and holds a master’s in conducting from Indiana University.
