In Monday’s (9/12) San Francisco Examiner, Stephen Smoliar writes, “Paul Sugarman, President of the Board of Trustees for the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, announced today that Peter Pastreich will retire as Executive Director, effective December 31.  Pastreich took the position on June 1, 2009 and is stepping down after successfully reaching several important milestones in the growth of the organization.  Those milestones include strengthening the Board of Trustees, creating a highly effective administrative staff, forming Philharmonia Baroque’s own recording company and issuing three critically acclaimed CDs, completing the first tour of the major American summer music festivals, beginning the first regular radio broadcast series by a period instrument ensemble, creating an education program bringing period instrument music to students throughout the Bay Area, and increasing ticket sales.”
