The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra and the Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies have received $100,000 from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation to help boost a strategic alliance through which the organizations share expertise, resources, and infrastructure. The grant will help fund start-up costs that include renovations to SPCO Center offices now shared by SPCO and GTCYS. The two organizations’ close proximity through the new alliance is expected to allow SPCO to provide GTCYS with ongoing mentoring in fundraising and management strategies, and make it easier for the two groups to collaborate artistically and to build and engage audiences. “We believe that this collaboration will results in both organizations better engaging the community at all levels,” said Knight Foundation Vice President Dennis Scholl, “and we’re looking forward to seeing the synergies that emerge.”
