The Seattle Symphony has announced that it is offering two new free-ticket programs for the 2011-12 season: Family Connections for children between ages 8 and 18, and Community Connections, which provides tickets through four partner organizations as a way to reach audiences who may not have access to symphonic music. The Family Connections program allows up to two children with an accompanying paying adult to attend Masterworks concerts at Benaroya Hall for free; tickets are available beginning three weeks before each Masterworks concert. Community Connections will provide free tickets to four pre-selected community groups: Washington New Americans; Post-Prison Education Program; Joint Base Lewis-McChord Family Morale, Welfare & Recreation; and Senior Housing Authority Group. “We want to ignite the spark of imagination in young audience members to enjoy the orchestra with their parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, music teachers, mentors, or caregivers, while also making dreams come true for those in our community who never thought attending a Seattle Symphony concert would be possible,” said Executive Director Simon Woods.
