California’s Berkeley Symphony has appointed RENÉ MANDEL executive director. He returns to the orchestra following a two-year hiatus, having served as Berkeley’s artistic administrator, orchestra manager, and principal second violin from 2006 to 2009. Mandel was most recently director of artistic operations/executive producer at the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, where he oversaw concert programming and production and assisted Music Director Kent Nagano with implementation of artistic projects and the orchestra’s long-range plan.
