No joke: New York classical radio station WQXR is running a contest in which entrants may submit five-minute videos centered on classical-music humor. Contest finalists will compete on November 8 at Caroline’s comedy club in New York’s theater district in an event that will be taped and broadcast on television stations Thirteen, WLIW21, and NJTV. Celebrity judges will include comedian Robert Klein, composer Peter Schickele (PDQ Bach), IMG Chairman Charles Hamlen, and soprano Deborah Voigt. The deadline for submissions is October 10; WQXR staff will judge all entries and announce semifinalists on October 17. For more information about the contest, visit wqxr.org/comedy.
