MARIO GARCIA DURHAM has been named president and CEO of the Association of Performing Arts Presenters (APAP), effective October 3, succeeding SANDRA GIBSON, who stepped down from the post June 30, 2011.  Since 2004 Durham has been Director of Artist Communities and Presenting at the National Endowment for the Arts. Durham is the founder and former executive director of Yerba Buena Arts & Events in San Francisco. He has served on the APAP board’s executive committee as well as on the boards of the American Arts Alliance, Galeria de la Raza, the Isadora Duncan Dance Awards, and Bay Area Celebrates National Dance Week. Durham has been a panelist for such organizations as the NEA, the Wallace Foundation, Arts International, and the San Francisco Arts Commission. Early in his career he was a member of Patsy Swayze’s Houston Jazz Ballet Company. He is a native of Houston and a graduate of the University of Houston.
