The Allentown (Pa.) Symphony Orchestra has announced the selection of five conductors for its 2011-12 Conducting Fellows Program: DAVID LONG of Tennessee, STEPHEN CZARKOWSKI of Virginia, REUBEN BLUNDELL of New York, EDETTE GAGNÉ of Canada, and MICHAEL AVAGLIANO of New Jersey. Each will be assigned to one of the orchestra’s concerts this season. Their assignments will include listening for balance during rehearsals, acting as score readers for multi-media concerts, and providing other forms of assistance to Music Director Diane Wittry, with whom they will participate in career-mentoring sessions. The conducting fellows will receive further exposure to the profession through meetings with ASO staff members including the music librarian, personnel manager, operations manager, development director, and executive director.
