Tuesday (9/27) on the KTVN CBS News channel 2 website (Reno), Erin Breen writes, “For more than a year 13-year-old Paul Novak of Reno has been hearing a melody in his head. And after working with world-renowned composer Sean Sheperd, Novak is seeing that music come alive with the Reno Philharmonic. You see, Sean Sheperd has traveled the world and composed for some of the greatest orchestras in the country. But he has ties to Reno. After graduating from Reed High School and from Julliard, he has come home for a two year stint as the Reno Philharmonic’s Composer-in-Residence. And having been a young composer himself not that many years ago, he’s helping other young composers along the way. … Paul embraced that help and over this past year has brought his piece to the Reno Philharmonic. … The Reno Philharmonic’s season opener is this weekend. Paul Novak’s piece will be played during the family concert on Saturday morning … Sean Sheperd will premiere a new piece with the Reno Philharmonic Sunday at 4pm and again Tuesday at 7:30pm.”
