LAWRENCE J. FRIED has been appointed executive director of Opera In The Heights in Houston. His previous positions include general manager and artistic administrator, San Antonio Symphony; executive director, Bellevue (Wash.) Philharmonic; and orchestra manager and artistic administrator, The Little Orchestra Society of New York. Fried holds a bachelor’s degree in percussion performance from New England Conservatory and a master’s in percussion and musicology from the State University of New York at Stony Brook.
