California’s San Luis Obispo Symphony has announced the appointment of JIM BLACK as executive director. He had been serving as interim executive director since the resignation of BRIAN HERMANSON in July 2011. Black has served on the orchestra’s board of directors since 2003, including a term as president during the 2006-07 season. A graduate of Syracuse University with a bachelor’s degree in economics, he has had an extensive career as a strategist and project manager for high-tech businesses in both San Luis Obispo and Los Angeles.
