The Detroit Symphony has extended the deadline to November 1, 2011 to apply for the annual Elaine Lebenbom Annual Memorial Award for Female Composers. The award recipient will receive a $10,000 cash prize, and her original orchestral work will be performed by the DSO on its classical subscription series. The winning composer also receives a one-month residency at the Ucross Foundation artists’ retreat in northern Wyoming. The Elaine Lebenbom Memorial Award for Female Composers is given annually to a living female composer of any age or nationality. Winners will be notified no later than December 15, 2011.
