The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra has announced the promotion of EVANS MIRAGEAS to vice president for artistic planning, effective January 1, 2012. He joined the ASO in April 2006 as artistic advisor, and since January 2007 has served as the orchestra’s director of artistic planning. Previous affiliations include WFMT in Chicago, where he was a radio producer; the Boston Symphony Orchestra, where he was artistic administrator during the tenure of Music Director Seiji Ozawa; and Decca Record Company, where he held the title senior vice president. Since 2005 Mirageas has served as Harry T. Wilks Artistic Director at the Cincinnati Opera, a post he will retain as he takes up his new duties at the Atlanta Symphony.
