“It worked on October 5, when three St. Louis Symphony Orchestra trumpets performed the National Anthem at Busch Stadium before that night’s faceoff with the Phillies: the Cardinals won,” writes Sarah Bryan Miller in Thursday’s (10/13) St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “Now they’re pulling out all the stops—and all the strings, woodwinds, brass and percussion—in a special performance to help the Redbirds beat the Milwaukee Brewers in Game 5 of the playoffs. On Friday morning, just before the final rehearsal for this weekend’s concerts, music director David Robertson will conduct the full orchestra (all garbed in red, of course) in Richard Heyman’s arrangement of ‘Take Me Out to the Ballgame.’ The video will be put on the orchestra’s website as quickly as possible. ‘Hey, it worked last time,’ said SLSO vice president for external affairs Adam Crane. ‘We want to help push the Cardinals to the World Series—and beyond!’ ”
