In Sunday’s (10/23) Muskegon Chronicle (Michigan), Nancy Verschueren writes, “Did you know that students, any students with valid I.D.s, can attend a West Michigan Symphony concert for only $5? Discounted WMS tickets have been available for young people who want to attend the symphony for whatever reason for a long time, said Rita Smith, patron services manager of the WMS. Until a couple of years ago, they were referred to as student rush tickets. ‘We have kids of all ages,’ she said. ‘A college English class requires it. … Mona Shores students have to write about a cultural event. We’re always good for that one.’ Seating is determined on a ‘best available’ basis, so students often find themselves in very good seats, Smith added. … The $5 ticket offer is good for any WMS concert this season except the March 2-3 ‘Cirque de la Symphonie’ show. Those are $15, she said. And all student tickets may be purchased at the door or in advance. The only requirement is that they not be purchased online.”
