The American Composers Orchestras has extended the deadline to December 2, 2011 for submissions for two different new-music programs: the 21st Annual Underwood New Music Readings and Commission and the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra/EarShot New Music Readings. For the Underwood New Music Readings and Commission, up to six composers in the early stages of their careers will be selected to participate in the readings, and one composer will be awarded a $15,000 commission to write a new work to be performed by the ACO; the readings are set for June 1-3, 2012 at the DiMenna Center in New York City. The Buffalo Philharmonic New Music Readings will provide up to four composers the opportunity to work with the BPO under BPO associate conductor Matthew Kraemer; composers Margaret Brouwer, Michael Gandolfi, and Derek Bermel will provide feedback. The BPO readings are set for February 22-24, 2012 in Buffalo, New York.
