The Virginia Symphony, headquartered in Hampton Roads and serving the southeast portion of the state, has appointed KAREN PHILION director of development. She was previously director of development for the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, and had earlier worked as director of marketing and development for the Vermont Symphony Orchestra; as deputy director for Alaska Public Radio; as an editor at the University of Mississippi’s Center for the Study of Southern Culture; and as an instructor at Northwest Mississippi Community College.
