YOA Orchestra of the Americas (formerly known as Youth Orchestra of the Americas) has appointed CARLOS MIGUEL PRIETO music director. He was previously the orchestra’s principal conductor, a post he had shared with Gustavo Dudamel since 2002. Prieto continues to serve as music director of the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra and two orchestras in his native Mexico, the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de México and the Orquesta Sinfónica de Mineria. YOA Orchestra of the Americas, headquartered in Arlington, Va., and under the artistic direction of Plácido Domino, celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2011-12 with December and January concerts in China (under conductor José Serebrier) and a nationwide tour of Chile led by Prieto in July.
