In Thursday’s (11/10) Courier-Journal (Louisville, Kentucky), Elizabeth Kramer writes, “A late night meeting between the Louisville Orchestra and its musicians Tuesday resulted in a plan negotiated between the two parties that is now being presented to the musicians, who will vote on it Sunday, mediator Henri Mangeot said. ‘There was give and take back and forth and discussion,’ said Mangeot, the executive director of the Louisville Labor Management Committee, who has been helping mediate the negotiations since the summer. He declined to give details about the meeting, but said the musicians presented a proposal to modify parts of a plan management had offered Monday. … Those attending Tuesday’s meeting included Mangeot, Fischer’s chief of staff Ellen Hesen; Kim Tichenor, chairwoman of the players’ negotiating committee, and four other musicians on the committee; Joe Spain, president of the Louisville Federation of Musicians, Local 11-637; the musicians labor attorneys, Irwin H. Cutler, Jr. and Chris Sanders; orchestra board president Charles Maisch; board member Patrick Welsh; and James U Smith III, the orchestra’s attorney. Mangeot said orchestra CEO Robert Birman is on vacation this week. No meetings are scheduled for the rest of this week, although Mangeot said he expects some discussion via telephone calls.”
