The Cleveland Institute of Music live-streamed the second half of its sold-out November 30 concert at Mixon Hall, a solo recital featuring Russian-born pianist and CIM student Daniil Trifonov. The Institute video-streamed the concert both to its own website at http://www.cim.edu and via its own free CIM Android mobile app—the first live video concert, it says, presented by an institute of higher education to a global audience across all Smartphone platforms. For the live stream, the Cleveland Institute collaborated with the classical-music digital-media company InstantEncore. Fans who wished to watch the live concert on mobile devices first downloaded the free CIM or Apple app and then received a push notification directing them to the live video stream when the event was about to begin.
