EarShot, the National Orchestral Composition Discovery Network, has announced that its San Diego Symphony New Music Readings will take place at Copley Symphony Hall in San Diego, California on April 19 and 20. The readings are designed to give emerging composers visibility and mentorship in the field of orchestral music by having their works performed in reading sessions by professional orchestras. In San Diego, four composers chosen on a competitive basis will work closely with the San Diego Symphony, with two reading sessions with the orchestra as well as workshops with industry professionals and feedback from principal SDS musicians, conductor, and mentor composers Rand Steiger, Robert Beaser, and John Corigliano. The deadline for composers’ applications is February 3, 2012; for information and guidelines, visit http://www.earshotnetwork.org/sandiego.html. EarShot is a partnership among American Composers Orchestra, American Composers Forum, New Music USA, and the League of American Orchestras.
