The Reno Chamber Orchestra in Nevada is presenting its eighth annual Nevada Chamber Music Festival this December at the South Reno United Methodist Church and the Nightingale Concert Hall at University of Nevada-Reno. The eleven-concert festival kicks off on December 26 with a solo piano recital featuring Orion Weiss in works of Bach, Liszt, Schumann, and Martinů; it ends on December 31 with a program that includes works by Liszt, Brahms, Dvořák, and Lutoslawski, as well as Bach’s Concerto in A minor for Four Keyboards with soloists Robert Levin, Ya-Fei Chuang, Orion Weiss, and James Winn. The Reno Chamber Orchestra notes that attendance at the festival has grown every year since its first year in 2004, with a record 2,295 tickets sold in 2010, when more than half of ticket-buyers were not RCO regular-season concert attendees. The RCO also notes that it is able to attract many performers and ensembles during the normally inactive week between Christmas and New Year’s.
