The Chicago Symphony Orchestra has announced the appointment of KAREN LEWIS ALEXANDER as vice president of development, effective January 4, 2012. She goes to the CSO from Loyola University Health System (Maywood, Ill.), where she served as senior vice president for development and external affairs. Alexander had previously spent seven years as an associate vice president at the University of Chicago, where she assisted in executing the public phase of a $2 billion comprehensive capital campaign. She has also held posts at InterArt Distribution, Indiana University, and Union Theological Seminary in New York City. A classically trained pianist, she holds a bachelor’s degree from Williams College (Williamstown, Mass.) and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in public administration.
