In Georgia, musicians and music-business leaders will convene at the Georgia State Capitol in Atlanta on January 24 for the state’s first-ever Georgia Music Day. Among the assembled forces will be Robert Spano, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra’s music director, as well as artists such as Chuck Leavell from the Rolling Stones, Johnny Colt (Black Crowes/Train), Kristian and Brandon Bush (Sugarland), Mac Powell (Third Day), and Coy Bowles and John Hopkins (Zac Brown Band). Musicians will visit the House and Senate for the official proclamation of Georgia Music Day and speak to legislators about the cultural and educational contributions they make, as well as the billions in annual revenue they generate for the state.
