The Corporation for International Business is now accepting applications from orchestra executive directors and operations managers for five scholarships to help defray the costs of attending the League of American Orchestras’ National Conference in June. Each scholarship award covers virtually the entire cost of registration fees (or travel expenses), averaging $500 per scholarship recipient. This year’s Conference is in Dallas from June 5 to 8. The scholarships—known as 2012 Carnets Play the World Scholarships—are awarded to professional and youth orchestras that promote American orchestras through their international tours. Orchestras that have not toured but that plan to tour internationally within the next three years are also eligible for the scholarship. The awards are directed to executive directors and directors of operations who are members of the League. This year, orchestras are eligible for an additional $250 cash (or equivalent) prize if they receive an ATA Carnet and carnet bond from CIB for an international tour within 12 months of the 2012 League Conference.
