For 26 years Kavafian has been artistic director of New Mexico’s Music from Angel Fire festival. Sylvan has performed as baritone soloist with many leading orchestras, collaborating with such conductors as Pierre Boulez, Herbert Blomstedt, Christoph von Dohnányi, Christopher Hogwood, James Levine, Roger Norrington, Simon Rattle, and Esa-Pekka Salonen. His opera credits include Glyndebourne, the San Francisco Opera, New York City Opera, and La Monnaie in Brussels. In addition to his Juilliard post he will continue as a member of the voice faculty at McGill University in Montreal.
