The Association of Wisconsin Symphony Orchestras will hold its annual one-day workshop on February 25, hosted by the Wisconsin Philharmonic and the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts in Brookfield. Topics to discussed by staff, musicians, and volunteers from orchestras around the state will include media relations, volunteerism, venue selection, and guest artist expectations. Among the scheduled panelists and speakers are representatives from the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and M Magazine. Russell Jones, vice president for marketing and membership development at the League of American Orchestras, and Roger “Whit” Shepard, president of RWS Consulting, will lead a discussion on defining fundraising objectives and getting the most out of special events. Also at the workshop, Gerard McKenna of Stevens Point will receive this year’s Service to Music Award for his dedication to preserving the arts.
