The Houston Symphony has announced a two-year renewal of ROBERT FRANZ’s contract as associate conductor. He is now in his fourth season with the orchestra, and the contract extension will keep him in the post through 2013-14. As associate conductor Franz is charged with leading the orchestra’s student, family, and community concerts. He is also music director of the Boise Philharmonic in Idaho and music director emeritus of the Carolina Chamber Symphony in Winston-Salem, N.C., which he founded. During the summer months Franz directs educational programming workshops at the National Repertory Orchestra in Breckenridge, Colo.
