The city of Amman, Jordan may not seem like an obvious destination for an orchestra tour, but that’s exactly where members of the Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra and their music director, Fouad Fakhouri, visited recently, spending an entire week giving masterclasses for students and adult musicians, and rehearsing and performing with the Amman Symphony. Fayetteville Symphony Principal Flutist Sarah Busman files a report on the trip.

Also this week, San Francisco Classical Voice’s Michael Zwiebach argues that government support for the arts helps to increase private funding, and the JinglePunks Hipster Orchestra pays tribute to the Oscars with a medley of classic film tunes.

SymphonyNOW is the League’s new, online-only publication, with timely stories about orchestras every week. You’ll find SymphonyNOW on the right-hand side of the Hub homepage.
