JAMES W. PALERMO has been named executive director of Colorado’s Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival, effective September 1, 2012. He succeeds JOHN GIOVANDO, who has held the festival’s top executive post since its inception in 1987. Palermo served as president and CEO of the Colorado Symphony Orchestra from 2009 until last October. He had earlier spent fourteen years as the chief executive of Chicago’s Grant Park Music Festival; prior posts include general manager, Evansville (Ind.) Philharmonic Orchestra, and orchestra manager, Louisville Orchestra. Palermo is a 1989 graduate of the League of American Orchestras’ Orchestra Management Fellowship Program.
