Artistic: Symphony of Southeast Texas

CHELSEA TIPTON II has signed a three-year renewal of his contract as music director of the Symphony of Southeast Texas, based in Beaumont. He has led the orchestra since the start of the 2009-10 season, and has appeared as guest conductor with numerous U.S. orchestras including the Atlanta, Chicago, Detroit, Houston, Nashville, New Jersey, New World, Pittsburgh and San Antonio symphonies, as well as the Boston Pops, the Brooklyn Philharmonic, the Louisiana Philharmonic, the Rochester Philharmonic, and the Sphinx Chamber Orchestra. Tipton holds a master’s degree in orchestral conducting from Northern Illinois University and a bachelor’s in clarinet performance from the Eastman School of music. He received additional training at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and the Pierre Monteux School for Conductors in Hancock, Maine.
