Music of the Baroque, based in Chicago, has announced that its 2012-13 concert season under Music Director Jane Glover will comprise seven programs featuring large-scale works by J.S. Bach, Handel, Mozart, and Haydn. The season opens in October with Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass and Mozart’s Symphony No. 38 (“Prague”) at Chicago’s Harris Theater for Music and Dance. Among other highlights of the season are Mozart’s Symphony No. 39, Handel’s complete Water Music, Haydn’s Symphony Nos. 69 and 97, Handel’s oratorio Israel in Egypt, and Bach’s St. John Passion. In addition to concerts at the Harris Theater, Music of the Baroque performs at the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts (Skokie); the coming season features its first concerts at the historic 1895 First Presbyterian Church in Evanston, designed by Daniel Burnham. This season Music of the Baroque will offer a new three-concert Friday subscription package with seats at all price levels, as well as $20 tickets for seats in the Harris Theater upper balcony for those purchasing three or more programs.
