The Philadelphia Orchestra has announced the appointment of Ryan Fleur as executive vice president for orchestra advancement and Matthew Loden as executive vice president for institutional advancement. The appointments are to commence officially in June, but both Fleur and Loden will be involved in planning sessions and meetings at the orchestra during April and May. They join the orchestra as members of its newly formed Executive Office, and will work in close collaboration and partnership with President and CEO Allison Vulgamore. Fleur will have organizational responsibility for creative concert development, touring and residency fulfillment, orchestral personnel, human resources, shared services (Information Technology and Ticket Philadelphia), and electronic media. Loden will oversee the orchestra’s communications, public relations, marketing, and development efforts, with responsibility for the health and growth of earned and contributed revenues in accordance with the orchestra’s strategic plan. Fleur goes to Philadelphia from the Memphis Symphony Orchestra, where he has served as president and CEO since 2003. A 1997 graduate of the League of American Orchestras’ Orchestra Management Fellowship Program, he was executive director of the Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra of Boston prior to assuming his Memphis post. Loden has served since 2008 as vice president and general manager of the Aspen Music Festival and School; previous posts include director of music admissions for the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University and artistic director for Young Audiences of Houston.
