The Oakland Youth Orchestra in California has announced the appointment of JOHN KENDALL BAILEY as principal conductor, effective July 1, 2012. He has guest conducted numerous Bay Area orchestras and opera companies, and currently serves as music director, principal conductor, and chorus master of Trinity Lyric Opera; music director and conductor of Voices of Musica Sacra; associate conductor of the San Francisco Composers Chamber Orchestra; and artistic director of the San Francisco Song Festival. Bailey is also a composer, vocalist, oboist, and pianist. He has appeared with several Bay Area organizations as a pre-performance lecturer, contributed music criticism to San Francisco Classical Voice, and supplied real-time commentary for the Concert Companion.
