New on SymphonyNOW: Young musicians and arts leaders look to the future

Posted on: April 13, 2012

Where is the orchestra field headed? It’s not an easy question to answer, but a session titled Inventing the Future at the League of American Orchestras Annual National Conference in Dallas June 5-8 offers a provocative exploration of the critical issues at hand. This week on SymphonyNOW, session leaders Bill Brittelle (co-founder, New Amsterdam Records), Jose Luis Hernandez-Estrada (conductor, NEC, El Sistema), and Caitlin Sullivan (cellist, The Academy, IRIS, The Knights) talk about what inspires them about the future of orchestral music. Be sure to weigh in with your comments and ideas, too.

Plus: Meet the pioneering Kimbanquist Symphony Orchestra of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

SymphonyNOW is the League’s new, online-only publication, with timely stories about orchestras every week. You’ll find SymphonyNOW on the right-hand side of the Hub homepage.
