At the El Paso (Tex.) Symphony Orchestra, ANDY MORAN has been promoted from assistant conductor to the new position of resident conductor, in which capacity he will take on more responsibility for educational and pops programming and serve as artistic representative of the orchestra when the music director is away. Prior to joining the orchestra as assistant conductor in fall 2009, Moran taught middle school and high school band in the El Paso schools and performed extensively with the El Paso and Las Cruces (N. Mex.) symphony orchestras while pursuing a degree in music education from New Mexico State University. He holds degrees in horn performance and orchestral conducting from Southern Methodist University, and is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in instrumental conducting from Indiana University.
