The Boston Symphony Orchestra has received a $7.5 million gift from four longtime BSO supporters: Megan and Robert O’Block, Stephen B. Kay, and Lisbeth L. Tarlow. The gift is being recognized with the naming of the O’Block/Kay Room at Symphony Hall, a newly renovated social space on the hall’s orchestral level formerly known as the Hatch Room. The gift supports capital projects, including the O’Block/Kay Room renovations; the BSO’s endowment; and operational support. The O’Block/Kay Room, unveiled on April 19, features new, larger bars; a new audiovisual system, allowing the room to be used for meetings, lectures, and other events; an updated coffee bar adjacent to the coatroom; and an updated HVAC system, plumbing, and lighting.
