Administrative: Eugene Symphony

SCOTT FRECK has been appointed executive director of the Eugene (Ore.) Symphony, effective June 11, 2012. He is currently vice president for artistic operations and general manager of the North Carolina Symphony, where he has worked since 2000. Prior to that Freck served as artistic administrator of the Portland-based Oregon Symphony and was a member of that orchestra’s staff for nine years. A former cellist and alumnus of the Portland Youth Philharmonic, he holds a bachelor’s degree in English literature from Whitman College in Walla Walla, Wash. During his years in that city he performed as principal cellist in the Whitman College Orchestra and as assistant principal in the Walla Walla Symphony.
