The Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival in Long Island (N.Y.) will release bcmf premieres, the first recording on its own BCMF Records label, this June 1. The disc from the 29-year-old festival will feature American music recorded at the festival, including Paul Moravec’s Wind Quintet (2010) and three works commissioned by the festival: Ned Rorem’s The Unquestioned Answer (2002), Bruce MacCombie’s Light Upon the Turning Leaf (2010), and Kenji Bunch’s Changes of Phase (1999). The festival’s previous recordings on the New World Records and Naxos labels featured works by Ned Rorem (1991) and Paul Moravec (2008). The four-week Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival, founded by flutist and artistic director Marya Martin, takes place annually in July and August, balancing traditional repertoire with music by American composers.
