Two staff promotions have been announced by Arizona’s Tucson Symphony Orchestra. REBECCA CAIN, formerly orchestra personnel manager, is now the orchestra’s director of artistic production and personnel. Prior to joining the administrative staff she spent five years (2000-2005) as second bassoon. Cain is a founding member of Tucson’s Music from Greer concert series and a member of Paloma Winds, a Tucson-based woodwind quintet. She holds a bachelor’s degree in bassoon performance from Oberlin College and a Master of Music degree from Arizona State University. SHAWN CAMPBELL, who joined the orchestra as fourth horn in 1985 and was subsequently named education and community engagement director, has been promoted to director of artistic engagement and education. Campbell has supervised eight education programs and numerous community engagement programs at the TSO. She initiated the Southern Arizona Residency, which brings community-specific concerts and school-based education programs to rural communities, and she created such TSO programs as Just for Kids; Moveable Musical Feasts (chamber concerts performed in a setting of fine dining); and the Young Composers Project.
